Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Championed Careers holds, why we hold it, who helps us process it, and the rights you have over it. It is written to describe how the product actually works, not to cover us for things we do not do.

1.Who we are
Championed Careers ("Championed", "we", "us") is a career application service. We help you build an evidence bank of your real achievements and turn it into CVs and cover letters written to a senior standard. You always press submit yourself; nothing is applied for on your behalf.
Championed Careers is a trading name of [LEGAL ENTITY NAME],[REGISTERED ADDRESS], [COMPANY NO. if applicable]. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any question about how we handle your data, write toprivacy@championedcareers.com.
2.The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and write your applications, and not much else.
- Your achievement stories and CV are yours. You can export or delete them at any time, from your account.
- We never sell your data, and we never use it to advertise to you.
- The AI that drafts your applications runs on the Anthropic API. Your inputs are not used to train AI models.
- The site itself uses only essential cookies and privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.
3.Information we collect
We collect the following, almost all of which you give us directly:
- Account details
- Your email address and a password, handled through our authentication provider. Passwords are hashed by that provider; we never see or store your password in a readable form.
- Your CV
- The text of any CV you upload or paste, so we can understand your history and draft from it.
- Your evidence bank
- The achievement stories you write or dictate, usually in STAR form, along with any notes, metrics and context you add to them.
- Job-search preferences
- The roles, sectors, locations, seniority and other criteria you tell us you are looking for.
- Discovered job data
- Job listings we retrieve from job-board partners to match against your preferences, and the roles you save, score or apply to.
- Generated documents
- The CVs, cover letters and other application material the service drafts for you, and the edits you make to them.
- Billing metadata
- Your subscription tier and status, and a customer reference from our payment provider. Championed never receives or stores your card numbers; those go directly to the payment provider.
- Optional notifications
- If you choose to connect Telegram for notifications, the identifier needed to send you those messages. This is off unless you turn it on.
- Usage and technical data
- Basic, largely aggregated information about how the service is used, so we can keep it working and improve it. See section 12 on cookies and analytics for what the website collects.
- Waitlist details
- If you join the waitlist before launch, your email address, the role you told us you are targeting, and a hashed (one-way) version of your IP address used only to screen abuse. We do not store your raw IP for the waitlist.
4.How we use your information
We use your data to:
- create and run your account, and let you sign in securely;
- build your evidence bank and draft CVs and cover letters from your real achievements;
- find and score jobs against your preferences, including the reality check that tells you when a role is not worth your evening;
- take payment, manage your subscription and prevent fraud;
- send you service messages you have asked for, such as notifications you have switched on;
- keep the service secure, diagnose problems and understand which features are used;
- meet our legal obligations, for example keeping the financial records the law requires.
We do not use your career data to advertise to you, and we do not sell it to anyone.
5.Our lawful bases for processing
Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for each use of your data. We rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract. Most core processing, running your account, building your bank, drafting your applications and taking payment, is necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
- Consent. For things that are genuinely optional, such as connecting Telegram notifications or joining the waitlist. You can withdraw consent at any time, and doing so does not affect processing that already happened.
- Legitimate interests. For keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and understanding usage at an aggregate level to improve the product. We only rely on this where our interest is not overridden by your rights, and you can object (see section 11).
- Legal obligation. For example, retaining billing and tax records for the period the law requires.
This policy is written under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
6.The companies that process data for us
We keep our list of suppliers short and name them plainly. Each acts as a processor on our instructions, under a data-processing agreement, and none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
- Supabase
- Database and authentication. Your account, evidence bank and generated documents are stored here, hosted in the EU (London) region.
- Anthropic
- Provides the Claude AI models that draft your applications, accessed through its API. Inputs sent to the API are not used to train Anthropic's models. See section 7.
- Stripe
- Payment processing. Stripe handles your card details directly; we only ever see a customer reference and your subscription status.
- Cloudflare
- Website hosting and content delivery, and email routing for our addresses. Also provides our cookieless analytics.
- Telegram
- Delivers notifications, and only if you have chosen to connect it.
- Reed, Adzuna and JSearch
- Job-board APIs we query to find roles that match your preferences. We send them search criteria, not your identity or your evidence bank.
We may also share data where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request, or as part of a business sale, in which case any buyer would be bound by this policy. We will update this list when our suppliers change.
7.AI generation and your data
When the service drafts a CV or cover letter, the relevant parts of your evidence bank and the job details are sent to the Anthropic API so the Claude model can write the draft. This happens because you asked for a draft.
Anthropic acts as our processor for this. Under its commercial API terms, the inputs and outputs are not used to train its models. We send the model what it needs to write well and no more, and the result is stored in your account, where you control it.
8.Automated processing and the fit score
The service scores how well a job fits you, and gives you a reality check on whether it is worth applying. This scoring is automated in the sense that software produces the number.
It is not, however, a decision made solely by automated means that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you. The score is advisory. You ask for it, you read it, and you decide what to do. Nothing is submitted without you pressing submit, and no outcome, such as whether you get a job, is decided by our software. We disclose this plainly so you know exactly where the line sits: the machine advises, you decide.
9.International data transfers
Your account data is stored in the EU (London) region. Some processing involves transfers outside the UK. In particular, Anthropic processes API requests in the United States.
Where data leaves the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, together with any additional measures needed to protect your data. You can ask us for more detail on the safeguards that apply.
10.How long we keep your data
We keep your career data, your evidence bank, CV and generated documents, for as long as your account is active, because that is what the service is for. You can export or delete any of it at any time from your account.
- When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. That short window lets us reverse an accidental deletion and complete any final billing.
- Backups. Deleted data can persist in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups are rotated out, after which it is gone from there too.
- Billing and tax records. We keep the financial records the law requires us to keep, currently six years, even after you leave.
- Waitlist data. We keep your waitlist details until launch or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first.
These periods are kept under review and may be adjusted to stay proportionate and lawful.
11.Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- ask us to delete your data (erasure);
- receive your data in a portable, machine-readable form, or have it sent to another service (portability);
- object to processing we base on legitimate interests (objection);
- ask us to restrict how we use your data (restriction);
- withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
You can exercise most of these directly in your account. For anything else, emailprivacy@championedcareers.comand we will respond within one month. Our plain-English guide atYour Data & Rights walks through each of these in more detail.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) atico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put things right.
13.Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, hashed passwords, access controls, and suppliers chosen for their security posture. No service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and will tell you and the ICO promptly if a breach ever affects your data as the law requires.
14.Children
Championed is a service for adults in work or looking for work. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will remove it.
15.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows or the law changes. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and for anything significant we will tell you directly. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
16.How to contact us
For anything about your data or this policy, emailprivacy@championedcareers.com. For general enquiries, emailhello@championedcareers.com. You can also write to us at the registered address in section 1.
